April 2004: becoming active in the recycling community ...
After working since November 2003 to pick up hundreds of computer donations from throughout northeastern Oklahoma, PC Power began accepting donations during a weekly drop-off at the CityPlex Towers loading dock. Our generous donors have come from as far away as Muskogee and Grand Lake to donate computers for those who need them but cannot afford them.
PC Power had booths at Earth Day events on April 21 in downtown Tulsa and on April 24 at Mohawk Zoo.

at Mohawk Zoo. The children enjoyed receiving PC Power key rings, made
from recycled computer memory.
On April 22 at the Tulsa Country Club, Glenn DeWeese was the keynote speaker at the monthly meeting of the Tulsa Men's Forum, an organization of local civic leaders.
PC Power formed a partnership with Natural Evolution, a company that recycles electronics in an environmentally safe manner. Natural Evolution will accept all computer components that PC Power is unable to use in our computer refurbishing operations. This partnership makes it possible for PC Power to accept not only computer hardware that can be used in the computers we rebuild for our recipients, but to also accept outdated and obsolete hardware for recycling.
Computers delivered:
The first Habitat for Humanity computer was delivered to the Carmen Vazquez family in Broken Arrow.

A middle-aged man who lost his eyesight due to diabetes subsequently lost his business and was forced to file bankruptcy. The director of the local 911 Emergency Communications Center has indicated a willingness to hire him if he can satisfy the basic typing requirements. Visual Services agreed to provide the necessary software if he could obtain a computer. Due to his financial plight, he was unable to afford a computer, so PC Power built him a computer powerful enough to accommodate the specialized software he will need.
A family experiencing unexpected financial adversity lost their home computer to repossession. PC Power provided them with a replacement computer so that their children would not fall behind on their schoolwork.
PC Power provided a replacement monitor to a visually-impaired woman who is no longer able to work but earns a small income selling crafts on eBay after her 19-inch monitor failed.
